Happy Accidents: Cheesy Italian Breadsticks
by dharmapunk
I make a mean pizza. Some pre-packaged crust, a nice layer of sauce, cheese, turkey pepperoni and more…way more cheese.
I was doing that this past Saturday night, but in opening the package and removing one crust, I tore it. I thought it might still be usable, but the more I looked at it, the more I realized it was a lost cause.
Or was it?
I grabbed a plate and the pizza cutter and cut it into several elongated pieces. Then I used some of the pizza sauce to dip the breadsticks in.
But, they weren’t quite good enough. Luckily, I didn’t finish off the mozzarella.
So while the oven was preheating, I took the breadsticks, put a little bit of cheese on them and popped them into the toaster oven. I figure I was about 5 or 6 minutes to get the cheese to a nice golden brown. A couple of the pieces did get a little bit well done, but as you’ll see I think they came out all right (a few towards the back got a little bit well done).

I think I’ll put them in the oven after the pizza next time. They make a good little snack, just right with the Cowboys game. Or whatever happens to be on.
